With the onset of a new year, I found myself contemplating the elusive balance between motherhood and personal aspirations. As a devoted mother to a charming 2.5-year-old, I realized that in the selfless whirlwind of parenting, my dreams and wishes had taken a backseat. This was a wake-up call, a moment of self-realization that it was time to prioritize my ambitions too.
So, I made a promise to myself - this was going to be my year, my chance to do everything that stirred my heart because my identity and aspirations were equally important.
One day, I was preparing dumplings - a regular activity in our household - a thought crossed my mind, "Why not share these delicious bites with others?" My love for cooking, combined with a confidence honed over years of experience, felt like a calling. I have been a self-proclaimed foodie since my move to London at the tender age of 17, a transition that nudged me to become my own chef.
Making dumplings holds a special place in my heart, as it is deeply rooted in my Russian heritage. As a child, I would assist my grandmother in creating these flavorful bundles. As I settled in London, I began recreating this taste of home to assuage my longing. These flavorful parcels have now become a favourite with my Turkish husband, showcasing the power of food in connecting cultures and reinforcing the universality of food and love.
Looking ahead, I aim to broaden the culinary horizons of my venture by introducing diverse homemade dishes from various cultures. This venture is not merely a business; it's a testament to my culinary journey, a narrative of my love for food, and an homage to my cultural heritage.
